Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

HDme — HD Status WhatsApp ("HDme," "we," "us") is a mobile app from Tangerin Labs that helps you optimize photos and videos on your phone before posting them to WhatsApp Status. HDme is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp Inc. or Meta.

2. On-device optimization

Compression and fitting to Status-friendly length and size run on your device. Original gallery files stay on the phone. We do not upload your original photos or videos to our servers.

3. Transient delivery upload

To deliver an optimized clip to your WhatsApp chat (so you can Forward it to My Status), HDme may upload only the optimized output to Firebase Storage for a short time. That file is used to send the media through the WhatsApp Cloud API, then it is deleted. We do not keep long-term copies of your media on our backend.

If chat delivery is unavailable, you can share locally to Status instead. That fallback does not use our upload path.

4. WhatsApp number

Chat delivery needs the WhatsApp number you choose to link. We use that number only to send the optimized clip (and activation messages) to your chat. We do not sell phone numbers or use them for unrelated marketing.

5. Account and device data

Depending on how you use HDme, we may process:

• An anonymous Firebase Auth identifier used to authorize a brief upload
• Your linked WhatsApp number for chat delivery
• Language and app preferences stored on the device
• Device and app version information for crash reports

6. Analytics, ads measurement, and crashes

We use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand whether the app is working and which steps succeed or fail (for example, a completed delivery). Analytics collection is not gated on tracking permission.

On iOS we may ask for App Tracking Transparency permission so an advertising identifier (IDFA) can be used to measure Google Ads campaigns that help people discover HDme. You can decline. On Android the advertising ID may be used for the same measurement purpose, subject to your device settings.

We do not use a Google Ads mobile SDK inside the app.

7. Third-party services

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Analytics, Crashlytics)
• WhatsApp Cloud API (Meta) to deliver optimized media to your chat
• Apple App Store and Google Play for distribution

Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy.

8. Retention

Optimized files on our servers are temporary and are removed after delivery. Preferences stay on your device until you clear app data. Crash and analytics events are kept according to Google Firebase retention settings.

9. Your choices

• You can use the system photo picker with limited library access where the OS allows it
• You can skip linking a number and use the share-to-Status fallback when it is offered
• You can decline iOS tracking permission
• You can clear local cache from Settings in the app
• Email tangerinlabs@gmail.com to ask about access or deletion of server-side delivery records we may still hold

10. Children

HDme is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of HDme after an update means you accept the revised policy.
